Journal / Launch Notes

From placeholder to public site

The first useful version of Surfadillo had to do two jobs at once: look like a real brand today and stay flexible for the content and shop work later.

What changed

The original splash page was doing the right kind of work, but it was too light to feel like a public home page. The update kept the same visual direction and expanded it into something with more structure: a clearer homepage, dedicated About and Services pages, a better Journal shell, and a shop page that sets expectations for what is coming next.

That matters because the site is not just a billboard. It needs to carry a brand story, show a point of view, and give future visitors a path from curiosity to action without making them hunt for the interesting part.

Why it matters

A good launch site should make the project feel bigger, not busier. The new layout keeps the homepage bold and direct while spreading the useful detail into pages that can actually be read. The site now has places for services, writing, and merch without collapsing everything into one generic hero section.

What comes next

The next step is to keep adding actual posts and case studies instead of placeholder descriptions. The structure is ready, so now it is mostly a matter of filling the site with the kinds of notes, examples, and project writeups that make the brand feel alive.
